“The reunion you’ve been waiting for! The Romy and Michele sequel is now in production,” a post on the actress’ Instagram pages said Monday.
The message, which included a photo of the stars holding hands and sitting in director’s chairs, also appeared on the 20th Century Studios, Disney+ and Hulu social pages.
“It’s finally happening. Bursting with joy to be ‘reunited!'” Sorvino commented.
The film followed the titular life-long best friends, who were not popular as teens, as they prepare for and attend their 10-year high-school reunion, pretending to be more successful than they are.
Alan Cumming, Justin Theroux, Camryn Manheim and Janeane Garofalo co-starred in the original movie.
