‘Wildwood’ teaser: Laika Studios brings fantasy novel to life

Laika Studios is giving a glimpse of the new film Wildwood.
The studio shared a teaser trailer for the stop-motion animated movie Wednesday featuring the voice of Peyton Elizabeth Lee.
Wildwood is based on the children’s fantasy novel of the same name by Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis.
The story follows Prue McKeel and Curtis Mehlberg, classmates who attempt to save Prue’s baby brother Mac after he is kidnapped by crows and disappears into a magical forest near Portland, Ore.
Lee voices Prue, with Jacob Tremblay as Curtis. Other voice cast members include Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Jemaine Clement, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett and Tom Waits.
“From the makers of Coraline, Wildwood is a sweeping, darkly magical adventure about a young girl who ventures into a dangerous hidden forest to rescue her brother — an odyssey shaped by love, power, and the courage to confront the unknown,” an official synopsis reads.
Wildwood is directed by Travis Knight and opens in theaters Oct. 23.
