20th Century Studios announced Wednesday that Avatar: Fire and Ash is coming to Disney+. The film will stream June 24 on the service.
Fire and Ash is the third film in the Avatar series. It opened in theaters Dec. 19. It won the Oscar for visual effects and was nominated for costume design.
In Avatar: Fire and Ash, the Sullys attempt to return Spider (Jack Champion) to the sky people. Before they can, Pandora merges with Spider’s respiratory system allowing him to breath Pandora air.
This creates a new problem as the humans wish to study Spider to recreate his adaptation. Meanwhile, Fire tribe leader Verang (Oona Chaplin) teams up with Quaritch (Stephen Lang) to attack the Na’Vi.
Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña reprise their roles as Jake and Neytiri. Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco and Jemaine Clement also star.
UPI praised Fire and Ash in its review for creating interesting conflicts between characters and active story. James Cameron directed the film and co-wrote with Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver.
