Universal Pictures announced the re-release of Dreamworks Pictures’ Chicken Run on Wednesday. The original animated film returns to theaters Nov. 9.
The Aardman stop-motion film follows a coop full of chickens who plan a breakout from the farm, paying homage to The Great Escape. A sequel, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget was made for Netflix in 2023.
The original featured the voices of Mel Gibson, Julia Sawalha, Miranda Richardson, Jane Horrocks, Timothy Spall, Imelda Staunton and more. Peter Lord and Nick Park directed.
Since it released Chicken Run in June of 2000, Dreamworks had distribution relationships with Paramount and 20th Century Fox. NBC Universal acquired Dreamwoks Animation in 2016 making Universal the theatrical distributor for Dreamworks animated films.
