HBO Max announced Friday that Wuthering Heights begins streaming on May 1. It makes its HBO broadcast debut on May 2 at 8 p.m. EDT.
Wuthering Heights opened on Feb. 13 in theaters. Emerald Fennell adapted the Emily Brontë novel and directed the film.
Margot Robbie starred as Cathy, a poor woman who marries the wealthy Edgar (Shazad Latif), even though she grew up in love with Heathcliff (Jacob Elordi). When Heathcliff returns having acquired wealth, they begin an affair.
UPI praised Wuthering Heights in its review, noting the chemistry Robbie and Elordi shared, intensified by Fennell’s bombastic style. Fennell also took enough liberties that her film is not among the most faithful adaptations.
HBO Max will also present an American Sign Language version of Wuthering Heights. Leila Hanaumi and Giovanni Maucere perform ASL under the direction of Justin Jackerson.
Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes and Ewan Mitchell also star.
