Paramount Pictures is introducing the new film Ebenezer.
The studio shared a trailer for the movie Thursday featuring Pirates of the Caribbean and Sweeney Todd actor Johnny Depp.
Ebenezer is a reimagining of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol and provides an origin story for Ebenezer Scrooge (Depp), the cantankerous miser who finds redemption in Dickens’ novel.
The film’s taglines read, “Before he was Scrooge he was… Ebenezer” and “The name you know, the story you don’t.”
Other cast members include Rupert Grint, Andrew Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen.
Ebenezer is written by Nathaniel Halpern and directed by Ti West (X, Pearl). The movie opens in theaters Nov. 13.
Ebenezer will mark Depp’s first major Hollywood role since his 2022 defamation case against his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard. His most recent credits include the 2023 French drama Jeanne du Barry.
