Lionsgate released a new poster for the re-release of La La Land on Monday. La La Land returns to theaters Aug. 16 for its 10th anniversary.
The studio announced the re-release on Wednesday.
The poster includes the same scene of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling dancing outside the Griffith Observatory. The big difference is the placement of Gosling’s left hand.
In a 2024 interview with the Wall Street Journal, Gosling shared his regret that he held his hand parallel to the ground instead of perpendicular. The new poster twists his hand into the desired position.
“I didn’t know this would become the poster for the movie,” Gosling told the Journal. “It just killed the energy that way. I call it La La Hand.”
Damien Chazelle wrote and directed La La Land. Stone plays an aspiring actress who meets a jazz pianist (Gosling) as they both pursue their entertainment dreams in Los Angeles.
The infamous moment comes from the Oscar-winning song “City of Stars,” one of the songs written by Chazelle and Justin Hurwitz, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul for the movie.
The film won six Oscars, including for Stone, director Chazelle, score, cinematography and production design.
