Beloved filmmaker Mel Brooks celebrated the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios sequel to his comedy classic, Spaceballs, with a video message to fans at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

“Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money is not going to be the title of this movie. Why not? Because after all of these years, I found the money. There it is, ” Brooks quipped in the clip, pointing to a bag of cash labeled “Spaceballs: The Money.”

“It was in my basement But, everywhere I go, people say: ‘Mel, Mel! Where’s the new Spaceballs? When are you going to make the new Spaceballs? When are you going to make the new one?’ Well, we did it and the title is Spaceballs: The New One. It’s just like the old one, but it’s newer,” he added.

“That’s why it’s called The New One. There you have it. I’ll see you at the movies and may the Schwartz be with you!”

Brooks, Rick Moranis, George Wyner, Daphne Zuniga and Bill Pullman have returned to co-star in the film, which is set for release in theaters April 23, 2027.

Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman and Anthony Carrigan will round out the ensemble for the sequel to the 1987 blockbuster.

Josh Greenbaum directed the film, which was written by Josh Gad, Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, based on characters created by Brooks, Thomas Meehan and Ronny Graham.
