Sony Pictures announced the release date of The Social Reckoning on Friday. The companion piece to The Social Network opens Oct. 9, 2026.
Aaron Sorkin wrote the follow-up to his Social Network and will direct The Social Reckoning. Jeremy Strong was cast as Mark Zuckerberg, played by Jesse Eisenberg in The Social Network, in July.
Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White and Bill Burr also star. Madison plays Frances Haugen, the Facebook engineer who shared internal documents with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (White) who published the nine part series “The Facebook Files” in 2021.
Haugen also testified before Congress.
Released in 2010, The Social Network depicted the creation of Facebook at Harvard and feuds between Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield) and twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss (Armie Hammer).
