The initial film cast William Franklyn-Miller as George Washington and chronicled the early years of the military hero who would become the first American president. Kelsey Grammer, Ben Kingsley and Mary-Louise Parker co-starred.
The film opened at No. 3 at the North American box office, earning $21 million over the July 4 holiday weekend.
Erwin said he is writing the follow up now. No release date has been announced yet.
