Lionsgate announced Tuesday that the documentary Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse will join its Lionsgate Limited home video series. The 4K UHD/Blu-ray steelbook set is available May 19 through Lionsgate Limited.

Originally released in 1991, Eleanor Coppola followed her husband, Francis Ford Coppola, during the production of 1979’s Apocalypse Now. The documentary captured infamous stories like Martin Sheen’s heart attack and Marlon Brando surprising Francis with his shaved head.

The Lionsgate Limited edition is called Hearts of Darkness: The Art of Eleanor Coppola. It also includes four short films and eight other documentaries, including behind the scenes looks at CQ, Marie Antoinette and The Rainmaker.

The documentary enjoyed a theatrical rerelease with a 4K restoration last year, following Eleanor Coppola’s death in 2024.

Lionsgate also released Apocalypse Now on home video with the theatrical cut, 2001 Redux cut and 2019 Final Cut.
