The late actor Chadwick Boseman was honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday for his contribution to motion pictures.

Boseman, perhaps best known for playing T’Challa, aka Black Panther, in the Marvel films Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther, died at age 43 in 2020.

Ryan Coogler, who directed Black Panther, spoke during the ceremony, as did Viola Davis, who starred in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom with Boseman.

“His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world,” the Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, Ana Martinez, said in a statement.

Boseman’s wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, accepted the award.
