Netflix has released its first 2 1/2-minute trailer for Robert De Niro’s latest crime thriller, The Whisper Man.
Premiering Aug. 28 on Netflix, the film stars Michelle Monaghan, Adam Scott and Hamish Linklater, and is based on the bestselling novel by Alex North.
“If you’re lonely, sad, and blue… The Whisper Man will come for you,” the streaming service said as it shared its preview Tuesday.
The video shows Tom (Scott) asking Pete (De Niro), his estranged father, for help after his 8-year-old son Jake (Acston Luca Porto) is abducted.
Tom goes to Pete because Pete is the police detective who caught the titular child killer 30 years ago and the villain appears to have returned, even though he supposedly is behind bars.
Monaghan plays Amanda, a cop investigating the current rash of kidnappings.
