Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun,’ ‘Maverick’ returning to theaters

“Two films. One big screen. Back in theaters, May 13th, for one week only,” star Tom Cruise wrote on social media Monday.
The original film opened in 1986 and starred Cruise as hot-shot naval aviator Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. The cast also included Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, Meg Ryan and Tom Skerritt.

Cruise played Maverick again in the 2022 sequel, which co-starred Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Lewis Pullman and Glen Powell.
This was also Kilmer’s final screen performance before his 2025 death.
